Planting trees in the Geldmaat forest

To offset the CO2 emissions from our commuting, we plant trees! We did so in March 2024 in the Peel and Maas area of Limburg. On our first ever tree planting day, Geldmaat employees planted 500 trees in the village of Helden. A total of 4,500 Geldmaat trees were planted there.

Geldmaat forest In Helden, we planted 19 different species of trees and shrubs, such as sweet chestnut, beech, ratchet poplar, hawthorn and Gelderland rose. All these species are indigenous and local. Thanks to this variety, the monotonous forest has changed into a more climate-resilient one. The new forest also gives biodiversity an enormous boost. All kinds of plants and animals that also belong in this region depend on these native and regional tree species. They find their food, shelter or place to breed there.

Visit our forest Our Geldmaat forest in Helden is now doing well. The planted trees have generally done well. You can visit the forest. See below for the location.
Almost 15,000 trees In addition to the trees in Limburg, some 10,000 more trees were planted on our behalf at various locations across the country in 2024. For example, landscape elements such as small bushes and forest edges were planted in Gelderland and Friesland.

Trees for All We are collaborating with Trees for All on this. This organisation has been working for a forested world for 25 years. The organisation plants trees in the Netherlands and abroad through various forest projects and has already planted 10 million trees.

The second edition of the Geldmaat tree planting day will take place in February 2025. To offset our CO2 emissions over the year 2024, we need to plant 12,786 trees.
